Welcome!

Welcome!
Today we launch our new blog, and it seems fitting that we "turn over a new leaf" as we head into the autumn season.
My name is Lynne Flood, and together with my daughter Heather Irish, we begin our journey into a plant-based diet. We are both excited and looking forward to the many discoveries we will make along the way. We hope you will follow us along as we gain more knowledge and insight into this lifestyle change.
My first step begins with two books: "Eat for Health, Book One - the mind makeover", and "Eat for Health, Book Two - the body makeover", by Joel Fuhrman, M.D. These books are a goldmine, loaded with the information we need to make a major lifestyle change. Scientific facts and examples are given in such an uncomplicated and simple manner, making it easy to grasp and understand. There is so much to digest, and I am taking my time to read, underline & highlight. It is important to understand the major impact a plant-based diet has on our health."The most effective prescription is excellent nutrition", J. Fuhrman, M.D.
So, off we go!...on the road to becoming "Nutritarians"!

    1. I know! Very brave! I'll stick to the poundage lost...(10 lbs, 20 lbs, etc) That way, I can share results and keep a little dignity! Here's to seeing great health results, and soon!

  2. You two are so amazing :) Yesterday was my Day 1 on having a healthier lifestyle and working out on a regular basis. I am so excited to start feeling more "alive". I am debating on trying this way of eating too!! I have almost exactly 1 year to feel amazing in my skin before our wedding and I want to do this for myself, Andrew, Mackenzie and the rest of my family - but mainly, for myself :) This blog is very inspirational and I am definitely going to keep reading it!   3. Hi Ali! Glad you found us on here. So glad you're starting to live healthier as well. I hope you do try Dr. Fuhrman's Eat to Live programme! I'm feelin so much better already. Not only am I losing weight but I'm feeling healthier and getting the nutrients that I was lacking! Whichever path you take, I hope you stick with it. Nothing worthwhile is ever easy but once you put in the work you can start seeing amazing results! x x

  4. Thanks Ali! Glad to hear you're starting down this path too! Your upcoming wedding will definitely be a great motivator! Even if you decide to add lots of veggies, fruits and grains and less meat, dairy, eggs, sugar/oil and processed foods, you will reap big benefits! Load up on the good stuff, packed with nutrients and just eat less of the high calorie/low nutrient stuff!
    Veggies, fruits and grains are low in calories, high in nutrients and will fill you up!
    Stop by again, and stay plant-strong! :)
